On November 18, 2015, COFCO Group President Yu Xubo met with Mrs. Katia Abreu, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply of Brazil and her delegation at COFCO Fortune Plaza, where both sides exchanged views regarding the prospect for cooperation in agro-products trade and the strategy for infrastructure investment.
Mr. Yu Xubo gave a briefing about China’s agricultural policy environment, COFCO Group’s overall business profile, its integration development strategy as well as the Group’s import of agro-products such as meat, dairy products, soybean, sugar, ethanol, and coffee before expressing his hope for enhanced trade cooperation between two sides.
Mrs. Katia Abreu suggested that China and Brazil should sign a favorable tariff agreement, sort out trade procedures, and formulate convenient regulations to meet the market demand of both countries. She also highlighted infrastructure investment opportunities in the north of Brazil and hoped that COFCO can step up investment in local logistics facilities.
His Excellency Roberto Jaguaribe, Ambassador of Brazil to China, presidents of Brazilian dairy industry, meat production and cattle breeding associations and COFCO Group industry senior general manager Gu Lifeng also attended the meeting.
