On November 13-18, in his capacity of Co-Chair of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) COFCO Group Chairman Frank Ning attended the 4th ABAC meeting of 2015 held in Manila, Philippines.
Frank Ning hosted the first group’s dialogue in which he led a team of eleven ABAC representatives to conduct face-to-face communication with APEC Economic Leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping, South Korean President Park Geun-hye, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, and Peruvian President Ollanta Humala Tasso regarding issues such as service-driven economic growth, building of Free Trade Area of Asia and Pacific (FTAAP), infrastructure financing, development of small- and medium enterprises, and sustainability and achieved satisfactory results. At the same time, Frank Ning also served as the “moderator” of the dialogue and accompanied President Xi Jinping in his interaction with ABAC representatives.
Frank Ning was invited to a press conference held by Press Center of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Manila, where he gave a briefing to Chinese and foreign journalists about the current status of two major breakthroughs achieved in last year’s Beijing APEC Summit regarding the “Official Launch of Process toward the Realization of the FTAAP and APEC Connectivity Blueprint” as well as their significance to the development of enterprises and answered questions raised by journalists from the CCTV, the People’s Daily, Phoenix TV, Macau Asia Satellite Television Company (MASTV) and Reuters regarding the FTAAP, connectivity, opportunities brought about by “Belt and Road” initiative to regional countries and enterprises, how to appreciate the role of Chinese enterprises in the Asia Pacific region, how Chinese enterprises can better integrate themselves into the global economic landscape by making good use of APEC Connectivity Blueprint jointly formulated by Beijing APEC Summit, how to understand the theme of this year’s APEC “Building Inclusive Economies”, and COFCO Group’s next plan on how to seek growth opportunities in the Asia Pacific region .
During the meeting, Frank Ning was invited to attend an exclusive evening banquet hosted by Papua New Guinean President for ABAC representatives and exchanged views regarding the bio-energy cooperation between Chinese and Papua New Guinean enterprises. Frank Ning also attended a seminar on “Promoting Inclusive Economies” conducted by PwC, where he elaborated on the bright prospect of Chinese economy from the private sector perspective and set forth his views development opportunities and challenges faced by Chinese enterprises.
As the APEC’s only private sector body, APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) holds a yearly dialogue with APEC Economic Leaders to present their recommendations on how to create a favorable environment for business development.
